After your afternoon arrival to 'Eua island you'll have the time to settle in at the Blue Water Retreat, enjoy the dinner and get briefed on the upcoming days on the water.
After breakfast we prepare our gear and get transfered to the harbor (15min drive). We spend the day looking for and swimming with humpback whales and visit local reefs. We have pre-made lunch on the boat, continue swimming with whales and return to the harbor no later than 7 hours on the water (due to the whale watching regulation). We return to the resort, have dinner and relax.
Day off, due to strict Sabbath in Tonga. We will use it for a half-day island tour of Eua - Tonga's oldest island.
Water days for more swimming with whales, snorkeling and freediving. Wednesday is a shorter day on the water to leave time for packing and to catch our transfer back to Tongatapu in the afternoon.
Eua, Tonga's oldest island, has it all – lush rainforest, hills, caves and cliffs. The island is surrounded with big drop-offs and deep clear waters which makes it a perfect place for freediving and snorkeling.
Life is quiet on 'Eua - both on land and the ocean - and it's exactly this that sets it apart from other parts of Tonga.
Unlike other more popular whale watching destinations in the country, 'Eua is possibly the last place without dozens of boats that queue, share and even harass the whales in order to get a swim. There are two other operators on the island, however most of the time we don't see another vessel during our day out. This in turn has a direct effect on whales' behavior, so instead of avoiding boats and swimmers they show curiosity and spend time interacting with us. This makes 'Eua quite a unique destination for swimming with whales.
